ACCOMPLISHMENTS

From the very beginning, I have tried taking part in as many extracurricular activities as I can, be it a minor social event or a major competition. Here are some of the awards and certificates I have received over the years.

Summer School at ISDI

This was one of the most different, but exciting experiences in my life till now. Up until then, I was in an enclosed environment, but those two weeks built a special kind of confidence within me. I got to have a slight taste of various fields of art. Every day was assigned with a different branch of design and there was an exhibition on the last day displaying all that we had done.

DESIGN THINKING  was all about getting into the “design mode”. It reminded me that the entire world is a product of art as well. Later in the day, we also did a group activity where we came up with the idea of a foldable suitcase to make it more convenient for people.

FASHION DESIGNING  made me realise that anything can be transformed into “fashion”. On the same concept, I designed an outfit with a used ‘dupatta’ and ‘saree’.

FASHION STYLING taught me to style myself according to the event to create a positive impact on people. I noticed that any piece of clothing or accessory can be used in any way, with a little ‘mix and match’.

PRODUCT DESIGNING opened the doors of my mind, I designed a jacket that could carry any kind of food and beverage while maintaining its quality and temperature.

WORKING WITH 2D  made us explore the beauty of 2D objects and shapes and showed me the importance of neat presentation along with innovation.

STEM  introduced me to the perfect mixture of science and design and made me realise the importance of both in every aspect.

THE OUTFIT DESIGNED BY ME

In GRAPHIC DESIGNING, we performed many fun exercises that taught me how to think of something random and link it to a specific topic, like thinking of a company’s logo that matches a random word or phrase from a magazine. Another fun exercise to help us use our creative thinking was clicking pictures of certain elements present in our immediate surroundings itself, which match a particular topic. Here are some pictures I had clicked on the topic, “COLOUR”.

INTERIOR DESIGNING was about creating a balance between logic and beauty when designing a room. I also drew the lobby of the institute I was in, to understand the mechanics as well as the beauty of that particular room. As a team project, we designed the model of a room on the topic ‘sunflower’ using cardboard pieces, clay and toothpicks.

PHOTOGRAPHY  was another fun day where I took pictures of uncountable things. We concentrated mainly on Product, Fashion and Food photography. To view a compilation of photos clicked by me, CLICK HERE.

COMMUNICATION BUILDING  was mainly about socialising and developing a team spirit. The entire day was spent working as a team, deciding a team war cry, coming up with a group name, a team dance and a team logo. Finally we also did a group project, in which, we were to make a collage out of magazine pictures in just 10 minutes. That assignment really showed me the power of unity. MIXED MEDIA ARTWORK (SHERLOCK HOLMES)
MIXED MEDIA ARTWORKS

MIXED MEDIA  helped me unleash my creative side. It was a lot of fun making common items out of unimaginable things. I made french fries out of post its, a paint bottle out of wool and finally an artwork, depicting Benedict Cumberbatch’s role as Sherlock Holmes, using shells and buttons.

THE EXHIBITION  was on the last day, a few hours after making our mixed media artwork. We were  to set our stuff for display. Parents, other guests and faculty members were invited to see all that we had done in those 2 weeks. I decided to categorise my work according to stream name to give a clear picture to the viewers. 2020-2022 School Exhibition

The exhibition was a part of the 12th-grade ISC Art curriculum. Some of the best work I have done in my recent school life was displayed here. Due to the pandemic, the exhibition couldn’t be done at the school premises, instead had to be set up at home and was to be presented to the external examiner on video call. Making place at home, stacking books up on the window sill, covering everything with blankets and setting up the entire display was quite difficult. However, the actual challenge was handling the camera in such a way that everything was visible to the examiner while explaining my work and the inspiration behind each piece. But in the end, it was a success and a great experience.

2018-2020 School Exhibition

The exhibition was a part of the internal marks of the 10th-grade ICSE board examinations. Some of the best work I had done in those two years was displayed in the exhibition. It took a lot of hard work and setting everything up was quite exhausting, but it was a huge success. Presenting my work and explaining the ideas behind each painting to the examiner was also a whole other experience, I am very grateful for. I had made a three-tiered wooden stand to keep the paintings on and covered the tables and the stand with old “sarees”, using them as tablecloths. To view pictures of the exhibition CLICK HERE.
